MLK was one of the most well known civil rights activists. King played a roll in creation of the 1964 Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Without the efforts of King these acts would have been delayed decades later.

With all these accomplishments MLK was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize being the youngest person to ever get one. MLK is the only non-president to have a national holiday dedicated to him.

On April 4th 1968 James Earl Ray assassinated MLK at the Lorrain Motel in Memphis.
